NM Legislature 2012
The first week of the legislative session is over and already two anti-choice bills have been introduced. Both are Parental Notification bills, HB 51, introduced by Rep. Alonzo Baldanado, and SB 157, introduced by Sen. William Sharer. We do not have dates yet for the committee hearings, but will alert you as soon as we do!
We will need you to join us, just as you did last year when we defeated every anti-choice bill that was introduced, by calling and emailing your legislators and the committee members. We will also need a strong Pro-faith, Pro-family, Pro-choice presence at the committee hearings!
If you are unable to attend the hearings, we have a new “virtual” way for you to attend! We will be posting live to our Facebook page and live “tweeting” during the committee meetings. Most of the legislators have a profile on both Facebook and Twitter and keep their laptops open and on during committee hearings. Make sure that you have “liked” our Facebook page
and “follow” us on Twitter
so that you can follow the testimony and votes and respond as they happen during the committee hearings! If you are not connected to either of these social media platforms, we will still be sending regular action alerts and updates during the session.
Raising Women’s Voices is a national initiative working to make sure women’s voices are heard and women’s concerns are addressed as policymakers put the new health reform law into action.

You can make a big difference in just 5 minutes. That’s all it will take to learn the issues and send a letter to your elected officials. The actions of our government have an enormous impact so please educate yourself and take action.
