We Just Want to Say Thanks!

Joan Lamunyon Sanford, NM RCRC Director
If you’re like me, you probably had hundreds of emails and social media posts asking you to give to your favorite non-profit on #GivingTuesday! Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Giving Tuesday isn’t just about one special day of giving, we know it’s about the way you help us all year through the gift of your time, donations, goods or your voice. We’re so grateful for all of our volunteers, donors and supporters. We couldn’t do what we do with out you! So to all of our driver and hospitality volunteers, donors, clergy counselors, monthly donors, social media volunteers, clinic escorts, and activists, THANK YOU!
If you’ve been wondering what you can do to join the movement and give – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, gift or the power of your voice in our local community, here are some suggestions.
  • MyChange rounds up your daily credit and debit card purchases to the nearest dollar and donates the change to the NM Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
  • When you shop AmazonSmile, Amazon will make a donation to NM Religious Coalition For Reproductive Choice.
  • Set your search engine to GoodSearch. Every time you search the web with GoodSearch, we earn a penny!
  • Every time you shop at any of the 1,600+ online stores in the iGive network, a portion of the money you spend benefits NM RCRC.
  • Your expertise is exactly what we need! Through Taproot+ you can connect with nonprofits in need of pro bono work and start giving your skills where it matters most.
Thank you for partnering with us so that every person is be free to make decisions about whether and when to have children according to their conscience and spiritual beliefs.

Volunteer of the Month!

Susan Fule

Susan is one of our on-call volunteer drivers. She is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and also just participated in our workshop “Pastoral Care for Reproductive Decisions” The experience she and our other volunteers shared with the clergy attending the workshop helps them understand the barriers many women face when accessing abortion care.
We need volunteers to host patients in your home who can’t or shouldn’t stay in a hotel, and drivers for patients who can’t or shouldn’t drive to their appointments. We also need volunteers to pick up supplies for our care packages and bring them to the office. You must consent to a background check and driver’s record check to be a hospitality or driver volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering as a clinic escort, please let us know so we can schedule an orientation for you with one of our experienced clinic escorts.

Your Donations Made a Difference!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive as part of Stand By Me, our celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Clergy Consultation Service. Seeking reproductive health services continues to be a difficult, costly and confusing time. All of a family’s financial resources are often exhausted. After cobbling together enough funds for their abortion and travel expenses, many people traveling to abortion providers in ABQ have nothing left for meals once they get here. Thank you for your generosity! Our little food pantry is overflowing!
