Faithful Voice for Choice, Summer 2017

A victory for women, LGBTQ people and our families!

For now, we are breathing a sigh of relief that the Senate’s madcap drive to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been stopped in a middle-of-the-night vote, and by the slimmest of margins. For now, we have beaten back the threat that millions of us would lose our health insurance coverage. We celebrate a real victory for women, LGBTQ people and our families! The biggest thanks, however, must go to all of you who sacrificed so much to bring about this victory! It was the national mobilization of women, LGBTQ people and our families that held off round after round of Trumpcare efforts. What’s next? Accountability and vigilance! So, savor the victory! But, our work will continue. When Congress returns to work in September, there will be more challenges to Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and other vital health care programs as budget season heats up. So, we thank you for all you have done, and urge you to stay connected for the work ahead!

Volunteer of the Month!

Steve Zabinsky
A belief that women should be able to make decisions that so deeply affect their lives is the main reason I volunteer with NM RCRC. I’m very pleased to part of the team that makes this possible.
We need volunteers to host patients in your home who can’t or shouldn’t stay in a hotel, and drivers for patients who can’t or shouldn’t drive to their appointments.  We also need volunteers to pick up supplies for our care packages and bring them to the office. You must consent to a background check and driver’s record check to be a hospitality or driver volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering as a clinic escort, please let us know so we can schedule an orientation for you with one of our experienced clinic escorts.
